Historically and in the present, the Church often responds to conflict with domination or avoidance instead of connection and care. This has fostered cultures of violence in many Christian communities rather than helping Christians experience God’s healing and wholeness and follow Jesus as healers and peacebuilders in our communities. However, in our globalized and hyper-diverse world, God is helping us understand anew how Jesus is inviting us to following him as part of God’s sacred and healing peacebuilding mission, both by undoing inherited “Christian” beliefs and cultures steeped in violence and helping us reimagine more Christ-like alternatives.
Discussion questions:
What is the primary obstacle that prevents Christians from getting involved in peacebuilding?
How does your work try to overcome that obstacle?
This call is hosted by the Christian Peacebuilding Network, a multi-org group we helped found, and is part of a series of monthly conversations to help connect Christian peacebuilders and discuss themes related to peacebuilding and the Christian faith.
