Peace and Justice Take to the Streets

What if people of all faiths, colors, genders, and political affiliations could unite and stand together for the cause of peace and justice?

On Sunday, we did just that. The Interfaith March for Peace and Justice was a coast-to-coast coordinated event that took place in 12 cities across the U.S. to affirm freedom of religion and to stand against racial and religious discrimination.

Peace Catalyst was part of three of these marches, in Columbus, Ohio; Boise, Idaho; and Oxnard, California.

COLUMBUS, OHIO

In Columbus, where this annual march originated, people of all faiths and backgrounds walked the city's downtown streets chanting slogans like "No hate, no fear; immigrants are welcome here" and "O-H I-O! Peace and love is how it goes". Speakers shared at the downtown rally, and photographer Rachel Joy Barehl captured a powerful poem performed by Yara Edor and Mariam Soliman.

BOISE, IDAHO

OXNARD, CALIFORNIA

In Oxnard, Southern California, roughly 80 people from 8 different faiths marched together. They covered a mile and a half of ground before convening at a local park for remarks by local faith leaders.
