How do we understand the shared need for justice in both Minneapolis and Palestine? And how should the church be showing up and speaking out?
Join us for a conversation with Palestinian pastor Rev. Dr. Munther Isaac and local Twin Cities clergy and racial justice activists about liberation and solidarity across borders, the connection and injustice in the US, Palestine, and beyond, and the moral obligation of the church to advocate for and work alongside those oppressed by state violence both locally and abroad. To help view the conversation through a local lens, we'll be meeting near George Floyd Square, the site of a national and global reckoning following the murder of George Floyd by state violence.
Munther Isaac is a Palestinian Christian pastor and theologian. He pastors the Evangelical Lutheran Christmas Church in Bethlehem and the Lutheran Church in Beit Sahour. He is also the academic dean of Bethlehem Bible College, and is the director of the highly acclaimed and influential Christ at the Checkpoint conferences.
During the genocide in Gaza, Munther gained global attention for his sermon, "Christ under the Rubble" which was heard by tens of millions of people and subsequently quoted in South Africa’s case against Israel at the International Court of Justice. (You can watch his sermon or read the transcript here:
